Mtn Bikes Bring Good News

Dear Friends and Supporters,

One of the obstacles to sharing about Jesus's gift in South Sudan is simply getting to other villages. Driving here is like extreme 4x4 offroading, all fuel must be flown in, and walking is very time-consuming. The next villages are at least 1 full days walk away.

Requests from evangelists and pastors are not "can you teach us how to preach" but rather, "can you help us get there?"

Recently, Chris sat in a hut for a meeting with our church elders and heard their requests for transportation to some of the neighboring areas. They wanted trucks to take them about 40km away where the good news has not been heard and then pick them up after three days. We explained that Samaritan's Purse (our SIM ministry partner) only has two vehicles and also how difficult it is to get there via the muddy trails that pass for roads. Plus the pickup truck's winch is broken and the fuel injector pump is needing repair!

So, we agreed that SIM would provide some bicycles to be used for evangelism travel. Your gifts are putting wheels to the gospel, literally. Thank you for giving so generously.

We have purchased three strong mountain bikes with thorn-resistant inner tubes in Nairobi and will transport them to Sudan on the Samaritan's Purse flight this coming Wednesday Oct 12. Please pray we can get the necessary documents to get them through Kenya customs and on their way to Sudan. Also, please pray as we just did - that God would use these tools to bring a knowledge of Jesus's sacrifice to those who have not heard.

The attached picture is of Debbie, the wife of our SIM Sudan director and their son, Vanoh (pronounced like van-ay) testing the bikes.

Thank you for your love and support,
Chris and Beverly
