Chris and Beverly Crowder, November Newsletter

Dear Friends,

Wow!  What exciting news!  We've been officially accepted by SIM.  And we've found out a lot more about our assignment.  We have been granted a hut in Southern Sudan!

In Kurmuk, Chris will teach English and disciple individuals.  Beverly will be working in a "hospital" established by Samaritan's Purse.  There is a European physician there already.  Beverly will be working with the physician and several African nurses.  Did you know that most African nurses are male?

Picture an operating room, a male ward, and a female ward all made of cement block painted white with metal roofs.  There's a large tree in the center of the compound.  The entire hospital consists of these three small buildings.  Even though it lacks the technology and sterility of the American hospitals it is the only health care available for miles.  And many patients have never had access to healthcare.

We will be flown in to the compound by Samaritan's Purse airplanes and will have our own hut near the hospital.  The hut has a concrete floor and thatched roof.  Africans call it a "tukul" (pronounced:  too-cool!)

It is exciting time of rebuilding for Sudan.  As peace looms on the horizon please pray that the Lord would raise up leaders and entrepreneurs who would be gifted in the areas needed to rebuild such as roads, agriculture, water engineering, electricity, etc.

Prayer Requests

We are beginning to discover our support team by meeting with pastors, churches, and friends.  Please pray that we will effectively:  enlarge vision, enlist partners, establish support, and expand our faith in a mighty God.

Also, we are adjusting to our new life as homeless people.  Please pray that we will be organized, flexible, and kind to one another.  It's challenging learning to live without everything we once knew.

Please send us your prayer requests.  We are learning to be prayer warriors and would be thrilled to pray for you.  We're serious!

Praises

All our training needs are covered!  Almost $4600 was raised.  Now we are starting on the one-time need of $13,754 and our monthly need of $3,909.

We needed a home for our basset hound puppy Isaiah - God provided one that is perfect in every way.    It's a couple Beverly actually knows who had been wanting a play buddy for their 2 year old basset hound Roscoe!  Isaiah and Roscoe share a bed inside, a cool doghouse, and a fenced yard.  Plus Isaiah went to live with them on Bruce's (the husband) birthday.  It was a huge message to us that God wants to provide for us in every way.
